The Region B Honors Choir experience was unique and uniquely special for the Holt participants this year. Mr. Bishop received a call from the Region B Honors Choir Supervisor Matt Laura during Thanksgiving break to ask if Mr. B. would be available to substitute direct for Mr. Greg Cleveland. Mr. Cleveland had emergency surgery on a knee injury and would not be available to direct. With a week to prepare, Mr. Bishop agreed.
The event was unique because usually directors do not have the privilege of directing their own students at honors choir. It was a wonderful day of great music-making culminating in a most excellent final concert. To add to the excitement of the day, a record number of HHS students moved on to participate in State Honors Choir to be held in January at Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids. Congratulations to the 12 Holt High School MSVMA State Choral Festival representatives; and congratulations to the 16 Holt High School Regional Honors Choir participants who represented themselves, their school, and their community so proudly!
